Chilean Batman Post

Well, I can't imagine this being a traditional Batman story. I thought about translating it with my high school level of spanish. However, I decided to let your imaginations run wild. Things to think about. This has to be some sort of fan comic or novel. It just HAS TO BE.
1) Why is the CIA written on his insignia?
2)Batman has green eyes? I never knew that!
3) Robin definitely wants Batman...or does he?
4)Is that Batman or a Blowup Doll?
Speculate! Courtesy of Scans Daily as usual...

A Look at the Shortpacked Comic Strip!
I recently came across this awesome strip called "Shortpacked!" Although it is geared toward the nerd community, I do believe that it can be a really funny strip to the uninitiated. Generally, all my favorite strips are superhero-related. Here are a few featuring Batman and Captain America!
This is an excellent piece of commentary regarding the ridiculous "alternative" action figures for superheroes. When would Superman ever need a rocket launcher? When would Spider-Man need "Hydro-Vehicle Action"? Of course, these costumes almost always make no sense. This was a lovely strip.
Well, I always did wonder how Captain America adjusted to the modern times. Actually, Captain America joined the Avengers in 1963-1964. As a result, it really does make me wonder about the Captain American prior to the later 60s when "shit started going KRAZY." Back in those times, the extent of dealing with complicated issue such as race was primarily done through the X-Men. Of course, this X-Men team consisted of "vanilla white" individuals who just happened to have powers. Today, the X-Men team serves better as a homosexuality metaphor. This can be best seen in X-Men 2/3 with the Iceman coming out to his family and Angel trying to hide his true nature with a razor in the bathroom. God, X-Men 3 was terrible despite a great opening number...
Iron Man review should be up later this week. In a brief summary though, Iron Man is the BEST start to any superhero franchise in recent memory. It's like having Spider-Man 2 or X-Men 2, but as the opening film of a trilogy. For those who thought this was looking bad, I think you really need to take a closer look. This is easily the most enjoyable film of the year if you're a comic book fan or not...
This isn't even my official review!

Apparently, Midway and DC have lost it
I don't know how I feel about this. After the Soul Calibur/Star Wars crossover, I thought that I would never ever be surprised by anything else in the gaming community. Well, Mortal Kombat is going go head to head against DC's finest. Batman versus Sub Zero? Liu Kang versus Superman? Scorpion versus Martian Manhunter? This is just ridiculous. The problem is that Mortal Kombat have generally sucked. They all really, really sucked in retrospect. The only appeal of Mortal Kombat is the fatality system which will be removed. After all, you can't have Scorpion ripping a spine out of Batman's body. That's just not kosher.

A Panel for All Seasons

I just wanted to share this picture I happened to catch at Scans Daily. Long time viewers may remember a similar picture a while back when I wrote a rather "disturbing" perspective on the male friendship. Well, I promise you that I will only provide the picture and not add an additional, unnecessary commentary. Here, you are! Courtesy of Scans Daily!

Two Fun Pictures!

Kirby is a member of the Wang canine clan. Anyway, I felt inspired to photoshop this picture. Really, it's only fun to a few people. However, I still felt tickled by the idea of Kirby fighting Kirby. Are you confused yet?
Oh yeah, I loved this panel from Scans Daily. This was hilarious.

Do I even have to comment on this panel? Alright. I'll say one thing. Batman looks GODDAMN embarrassed.

Are we obsessed with "Friendship Tests"?

Does this picture have much to do with the topic? Not particularly. However, a friend of mine recently brought to attention the fact that I (and other males in my particular social group) are enamored of the old age game called the "Friendship Test." From what it sounds like, it goes a little like the following:
Male A will devise a plan that will cause Males B and C to take notice of something different. This may range from a new haircut to a new t-shirt to even Male A's blatant absence. Now, according to this theory (or fact), we will use these events to see if Males B and C would give a rat's ass and mention the change. If the change is noticed, that bond is strengthened or simply "confirmed." If not noticed, it will spark a wily discussion amongst Male A and other individuals outside the circle until someone from this "outside circle" leaks out information surreptitiously or accidentally to B and (or) C. In other words, we are sensitive creatures that create this drama despite complaining about the drama that other people perpetuate in their lives. All in all, this is actually a harmless cycle that does little harm to the actual friendships. This is akin to the superfluous nature of girls wanting guys to notice their own changes and forcing the guy in question to play a guessing game that ultimately leads nowhere (generally, guys either lose or win with dumb luck). Male friendship, although tough on the outside, is ultimately more sensitive and ninja-like than one is willing to admit. Though it will never be as conniving and sneaky as the female friendships (which always begs the question if girls are friends with each other on the surface or under that layer of bitchiness). For the record, I am not criticizing women, just girls.
Oddly enough, I find myself not disproving this post. This passage accompanied by wordy liberal arts language just reveals a facet of humanity that lies in the seedy underbelly of civilization. Plus, I wanted to have an excuse to put up that picture of Batman/Superman.

Wait, some Trailers!
Tomorrow, Justice League: New Frontier will be arriving from Amazon on Blu-Ray! To commemorate, I embedded two trailers. One is for the film itself and the second is for the new Batman Animatrix-Esque Project coming out prior to the Dark Knight arriving in theaters.
Justice League- New Frontier
I'll reserve a post about this Blu-Ray when I watch it. However, I did watch a screener for this film and it was EXCELLENT. It is a great adaptation of the work. Highly recommended. Although it does feel choppy and a little short at the end, I think Bruce Timm and his buddies did a stellar job with this work. Clearly, there was a ton of love for the original work by Darwyn Cooke.
Batman Anime Project. This looks interesting. I loved the Animatrix, but disliked the actual films. Hopefully, I will like both movies. I recognize some of the designs here, but I am too lazy to figure it out.

Frank Miller. What the hell?
In the recent issue of All Star Batman and Robin, Batman decides to confront Green Lantern by painting himself yellow.

What?
I don't even know why I even bother reading this comic. The art clashes with Frank Miller's style. Frank Miller claims that this series is actually a prequel to his classic "Dark Knight Returns" series. Although I can understand how this could work, I really liked how Batman's craziness in the classic is related to the changing times. I don't want his craziness (especially here) to be just be KRAZY. I just can't believe Batman would ever paint himself and his surroundings yellow in order to confront the Green Lantern. I'm thinking of just calling this Batman, MR. B. "Mentally Retarded Batman."

I've been playing the new Apollo Justice title. Still stuck on the first case, but I really like this game so far. It is basically like every other game in the series, but just a little bit slicker.
